Patron of CLIMATE 2012

Dr Mohamed Ibn Chambas, ACP Secretary-GeneralDr Mohamed Ibn Chambas, ACP Secretary-GeneralThe organizers are very pleased to welcome as patron of the 2012 worldwide online climate conference Dr. Mohamed Ibn Chambas, Secretary General of the African Caribbean Pacific (ACP) Group of States Secretariat:

"This online conference CLIMATE 2012 which allows participants from all over the world to access latest knowledge, discuss and interact with experts and fellow participants from developing and developed nations on the theme Climate change, Sustainable Technologies and Small Island Developing States, is very relevant and crucial at this time when the world is preparing for the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20). Targeting Small Island States is even more relevant as most - if not all - are vulnerable to the negative impact of climate change.

Therefore I welcome that the organizers from Hamburg University of Applied Sciences are directing the world's attention to regions which already today have to cope with the adverse impacts of climate variability and climate change. This unique conference concept supports us at the ACP Group in our efforts to foster awareness and understanding of ACP countries specific challenges and opportunities and promotes the chances of sustainable, climate-smart solutions, for example using renewable energy, for those fragile small island environments."
